Living with HS is a struggle. The lumps, the bumps, the open sores. It can be painful, embarrassing, and frustrating. We’re studying an investigational treatment for HS designed to lower the parts of the immune system that are overactive, causing inflammation under your skin. This leads to the painful lumps often found in your armpits, groin, or other areas of your body.1
If you want to help HS research, participation in this study may be right for you. Completing a private online screener is the first step – see your options.

The purpose of this research study is to test the efficacy of an investigational medication designed to treat HS.
The treatment being researched may lower parts of the immune system that are overactive, causing inflammation and HS symptoms, with the goal of reducing HS symptoms.
All participants will receive the investigational drug in this trial. There are two treatment periods in this trial. During the first treatment period, 2 in 3 (66%) of the participants will receive the study drug, while 1 in 3 (33%) will receive a placebo. During the second treatment period, all participants (100%) will receive the study drug.
You do not have to pay for the investigational study drug or study procedures that are not part of your routine medical care. However, you may be responsible for paying for routine medical care that may be performed during the trial, some of which may be covered by your insurance.
Hidradenitis suppurativa can affect one or several areas of the body.
Signs and symptoms of the condition include2:
Blackheads appear in small pitted areas of skin, often appearing in pairs.
This condition usually starts with a single, painful lump under the skin that persists for weeks or months. More bumps may form in areas where you have more sweat and oil glands or where the skin rubs together, such as the armpits, groin, buttocks, and breasts.
Some bumps or sores get bigger, break open and drain pus with an odor.
Over time, tunnels might form under the skin, connecting the lumps. These wounds heal very slowly, if at all, and drain blood and pus.
If you qualify and enroll in the research study, participation will last about 18 months. During the study, you will be asked to come to the study site approximately 17 times, which is about once every four weeks, and for some visits once every eight weeks.
During your visits, you may receive the study drug or placebo. Routine medical treatment will be part of your trial visits, including physical examinations, HS skin exams, vital signs, and other medical care. All details of study-related care will be shared with you at the time of study enrollment.
To qualify for this HS Study, participants need to have a current HS diagnosis and to have received that diagnosis 6 or more months ago.
